Cultured MSCs demonstrate logarithmic growth potential. Each graph depicts logarithmic growth potential and the theoretical number of cells that can be obtained using different isolation methods and culture conditions over several passages for (a) umbilical cord (), and (b) bone marrow (). Equal numbers of cells were plated for each condition and fold changes were determined after each passage (P2–P10) to determine the theoretical cell number that could be obtained starting with 50,000 cells from P1.
