Selective and Irreversible Induction of Necroptotic Cell Death in Lung Tumorspheres by Short-Term Exposure to Verapamil in Combination with Sorafenib

<div>VP + SF modulates the expression of key protein involved in apoptosis (PARP, cleaved PARP, procaspase 9, procaspase 3, and cleaved caspase 3), autophagy (p62 and Beclin), and necroptosis (RIP1 and MLKL). Cells were grown under routine culture conditions (RCC) or under prolonged periods of serum starvation (PPSS, for 8 days). PPSS cells were treated with VP (100 <i>μ</i>M) + SF (5 <i>μ</i>M) for 12 or 18 hs. Control (untreated) cells (U) were incubated with equivalent concentrations of DMSO.</div>
