Mesenchymal Stem Cells Enhance Pulmonary Antimicrobial Immunity and Prevent Following Bacterial Infection

<div>The number and phagocytic ability of alveolar macrophages were increased in the MSC-treated mice. Mice were treated with MSCs or CTX as described above. Cells in the BALF were collected and analysed by surface staining. The frequencies and absolute numbers of alveolar macrophages (CD11b<sup>-</sup>CD11c<sup>+</sup>) (a, b) and neutrophils (CD11b<sup>+</sup>Gr-1<sup>+</sup>) (c, d) were determined by surface staining. (e) The phagocytic ability of AMs was determined.
