The Immunomodulatory Properties of Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Call for Papers

Mesenchymal stem cells are a unique cell population that possesses potent immune-regulatory, self-renewal, and multiple differentiation features. For decades, preclinical and clinical studies showed that mesenchymal stem cells derived from different tissues such as bone marrow, adipose tissue, umbilical cord, amniotic fluid, and dental tissues have anti-inflammatory and immune-privilege potentials and can repair damaged tissue in many diseases. However, an understanding of the mechanisms of MSC-based immunomodulation remains incomplete, and the technologies for MSCs-based immunomodulatory therapy still need to be investigated. Thus, all findings and experiences of MSCs-based immunomodulatory researches will open up new possibilities for the treatment of various diseases and extend the human lifespan.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles on mesenchymal stem cells immunomodulatory research. Manuscripts based on in vitro tests and animal studies as well as human studies can be submitted to this special issue.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Studies investigating mechanisms involved in the mesenchymal stem cells immunomodulatory property
  • Studies on the use of mesenchymal stem cells for treating inflammatory or autoimmune diseases
  • Novel methodologies and technologies with potential application for mesenchymal stem cells-based immunomodulatory therapy
  • Reviews and meta-analyses on mesenchymal stem cells-based treatment

Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at

Submission DeadlineFriday, 13 April 2018
Publication DateAugust 2018

Papers are published upon acceptance, regardless of the Special Issue publication date.
