Description

Smart materials have been widely applied in the biomedical field and play a significant role in areas such as tissue regeneration, delivery systems, and detection/diagnosis for stem cell therapy. The most typical example is environmental responsive hydrogel-loaded stem cells for targeted delivery. Nanoparticle gradient-induced chemotaxis and homing of stem cells has also become a hot topic in recent years. In addition, the induction of stem cells directed differentiation by the surface topological structure of implanted instruments has attracted a lot of research.

With the rapid development of science and technology, stem cell therapy is facing more and more challenges. More interdisciplinary fields and frontier disciplines will shine in this direction. Thus, it is critical to wrap up all the efforts to provide support for developing smarter materials for stem cell therapy.

The goal of this Special Issue is to publish research articles and review articles covering the latest studies and progress in different aspects of smart materials for stem cell therapy. Manuscripts that include the systematic research and innovative discovery of stem cell behavior, carriers, delivery, and other aspects of stem cell therapy are welcome.
