Stimuli-Responsive Materials for Biomedical Application: Design, Synthesis, Characterization, and Application

Call for Papers

Stimuli-responsive material is a material system with smart behavior, which responds to some specific signals of external environment such as pH value, electricity, light, temperature, and redox environment. Upon exposure to external stimuli, responsive materials can alter their properties or even phase status due to the change of chemical and physical characteristics. These characteristics endow responsive materials with great research interest and potential applications in healthcare related issues. Knowledge and understanding of stimuli-responsive systems have created conceivable advanced materials with tunable nanostructures, promoted the development of materials with suitable response properties to physiological environment, and provided better and fittest materials for biomedical application.

We hope this issue will provide comprehensive and timely information for the progress of stimuli-responsive materials including design/synthesis of new materials and further understanding and application research of current available materials. We invite researchers to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate further development of related research fields.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design of stimuli-responsive material for biomedical application
  • Synthesis and fabrication of responsive materials in forms of hydrogel, micro/nanoparticle, film, micro/nanofiber, and composite materials
  • Research and characterization of the responsive properties of materials to external stimuli such as pH value, electricity, light, temperature, and redox environment
  • Applications of responsive materials including photoelectricity field, nanotechnology, sensors, drug delivery, and tissue engineering
