Ecological Thermodynamics: Theory and Application to Science, Engineering, and Social Sciences

Call for Papers

In the last few decades, systems ecology has become a well-established research area and it finds several applications in many scientific fields, ranging from science and engineering to social sciences.

Both natural and artificial ecosystems are dissipative systems, and energy transport and conversion could be considered as the fundamental dynamic mechanism to drive the ecosystems operation. In the recent literature, many significant contributions to both model and prototype developments based on ecological thermodynamics have been provided by several authors. Ecological thermodynamics is special issue which aims at creating a multidisciplinary forum of discussion on recent advances in mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, theoretical analysis, synthesis, control, and optimization, as well as engineering applications to theoretical ecology, ecological engineering, and environmental management. Ecological thermodynamics accepted papers will show a diversity of latest achievements in these areas.

This issue accepts high quality articles containing original research results and review articles of exceptional merit, and it will let the readers of this journal know more about this fundamental area of ecology.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ecological thermodynamics models and numerical simulation
  • Phenomena observed and rationales obtained from ecological thermodynamics
  • Development of ecological thermodynamics laws
  • Ecological thermodynamics expression on community succession and ecosystem evolution
  • Ecological thermodynamics application in systems ecology
  • Ecological thermodynamics theory and method in ecological engineering
  • Ecological thermodynamics application in environmental management and evaluation
