Recent Advances in IoT and Blockchain-Based Security/Privacy in Advent Technology

This issue is now closed for submissions.

Description

The advancement of advent technology such as IoT, blockchain, and big data has brought efficient tools and apps into our everyday lives. There has been an increasing interest in digital technologies, such as virtual reality and smart homes, posing tremendous obstacles for current computer systems. Edge computing has been suggested as a modern computational model, bringing data processing and storage closer to the source. It has created a new generation of latency and bandwidth sophisticated technology and software in health care, Industry 4.0, smart transportation, sustainable towns, etc.

However, digital innovations also present new threats to computer protection and privacy. Since networks are close to the users, a huge amount of sensitive data may be obtained. When the data is breached, the effects are devastating. In comparison, network systems typically have minimal space, so they are more fragile than data centers. Additionally, to the complexity of the network environment and high device and user mobility, attackers can quickly join the group in stealing information. Therefore, the implementation of protection and privacy frameworks is of great significance for edge computing systems to maintain transparency, stability, and health.

This Special Issue calls for papers focusing on new effective protocols, innovative and efficient algorithms, security schemes, architectures, techniques, and services based on IoT and Blockchain to enhance data security and privacy in advent technology where critical data or information is being shared among various servers, devices, different architectures, and users. We welcome both original research and review articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Agents and mobile communication systems based on IoT or vehicle ad-hoc networks
  • Authentication and authorization of users, systems, and applications based on blockchain technology in agriculture
  • IoT and blockchain-oriented businesses models and systems with security and privacy requirements and management in business organizations
  • Cryptographic techniques and protocols in healthcare information exchange system for medical systems
  • Various security attacks protection in machine learning-based models for healthcare systems
  • Developing enterprise management of security and privacy policies and infrastructures in IoT applications
  • Distributed, forward, and proactive policies and procedures
  • Secure and confidential protocols in electronic commerce, banking, and payment system based on IoT and blockchain
  • Blockchain-based systems for making authorized and efficient e-services, e-voting, and e-government
  • Blockchain-based privacy in peer-to-peer computing in cloud-based systems and architectures
  • Security and privacy techniques, management, and protocols for database support
  • Application of wireless body area networks in an integrated environment in healthcare
