Stability comparison at three speaker volume (gain) values. The highest gain (top line) exhibited squeal at all locations. The dotted line indicates squeal/instability. This gain provided the squeal frequencies for Figure 5. A lower volume produced squeal only at particular distances (middle line). Stable (no squeal) distances are identified by the solid line. Below a threshold volume value, no squeal occurs (bottom line).
