Shock and Vibration Induced by Mining Extraction

Description

With the innovation of coal mining process and equipment in China, large-scale and strong-mining working face is possible. However, the ability of the mine disaster prevention and mitigation to adequately characterize the geotechnical environment and keep up with changing geologic conditions severely lags the advance rate of mining equipment and processes. The strong mining-induced shock or vibration produced by coal and rock deformation and failure can easily trigger the tremor (even rockburst disaster). Therefore, it is very urgent and important to clearly understand the mining-induced shock and vibration waves in mines.

This special issue is dedicated to fundamental understanding of mining-induced shock and vibration waves in mines, issues associated with mechanical principles, propagation and attenuation laws, and monitoring and warning, and prevention and controlling of catastrophic shock.

We welcome reviews and original research papers (experimental, theoretical, or simulations work) on shock wave in mines that have potential application in the related dynamic disaster prevention technologies.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Mechanical principles of shock wave generated by coal and rock deformation and failure
  • Shock wave propagation and attenuation laws in mined coal and rock medium:
    • Numerical simulation
    • Physical analogy simulation
    • Field observation and analysis
    • Geological structures effect on shock wave propagation and attenuation
    • Coal and rock stress effect on shock wave propagation and attenuation
  • Monitoring and warning of shock wave in mines
  • Precursory information of coal and rock catastrophic shock
  • Prevention and controlling of catastrophic shock in mines
  • Rock strata controlling and roadway support technologies under strong shock generated by mining
