Vibration Energy Harvesting for Monitoring Dynamical Systems

Call for Papers

Harvesting energy from the vibration of host structures has been a topic with significant interest in a range of disciplines. The development of novel harvesters and aspects of increasing generation of power remain very important and better understanding related to the applications of energy harvesters is gaining popularity. One of the challenges of such applications is that the development of energy harvesters or related monitoring methods and algorithms should be tailored towards specific problems. We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that relate to the development or application of energy harvesting from vibrations for the monitoring, assessment, or detection of a feature of interest in a diverse range of disciplines.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Applications of vibration energy harvesters for monitoring and assessment of the built infrastructure, including highways, roads, pipelines, wind turbines, gearbox prognostics and fault detection, tunnels, mines, and wave devices
  • Classification of energy harvesting signals from dynamical systems
  • Design, development, and characterisation of vibration energy harvesters for application tailored to discipline-specific health or performance monitoring purposes on built infrastructure
  • Development of monitoring algorithms using vibration energy harvesters tailored to infrastructure monitoring purposes
  • Vibration energy harvesting and monitoring of vehicles and transportation related aspects
  • Applications of vibration energy harvesting for monitoring, identification, manufacturing, or pattern recognition
  • Application of fusion of sensors and information for monitoring using vibration energy harvesting
  • New frontiers and innovative applications in vibration energy harvesting based monitoring
