Recent Advances on Internet of Things
Description
In recent years, Internet of Things (IoT) has become increasingly ubiquitous. IoT enables a detailed characterization of the physical environment, as well as a rich set of interactions with the physical world. Therefore, IoT has the potential to revolutionize pervasive computing and its applications. The success of intelligent IoT highly depends on the system architectures, networks and communications, data processing, and ubiquitous computing technologies, which support efficient and reliable physical and cyber interconnections. Indeed, the realization of ubiquitous IoT poses several challenges about seamless integration, heterogeneity, scalability, mobility, and many others. This special issue solicits high-quality papers presenting original research results on IoT that are tightly related to pervasive and ubiquitous scenarios. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- System architectures for the IoT targeted to pervasive scenarios
- Big data, data science, and analytical intelligence for IoT
- Middleware and service platforms for ubiquitous IoT applications
- Cyber-physical security, data privacy, and trust in IoT
- Ubiquitous computing solutions exploiting the M2M paradigm
- Context awareness in the IoT
- Mobility management in the IoT and in M2M communications
- Social computing and collective intelligence of human society with IoT
- Pervasive applications built on top of the IoT
- Cooperative data fusion, mining, and processing of IoT
- Sustainable design and solutions for the IoT
- Services, applications, and business opportunities of intelligent IoT
- Application of IoT in industry
