Intelligent Computing for Internet of Things in Future Smart Cities
Description
Smart cities mean achieving sustainable urban growth through technology-based solutions, providing citizens with a decent quality of life. It uses a new generation of network technology, such as cloud/edge/fog computing, mobile Internet, 5G/6G, etc., to form an economical and effective interaction with all Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the city. These devices collect and share data from various applications, including managing traffic and transportation systems, electric supply, waste management, information systems, schools, libraries, hospitals, and other community services. All collected data is then transformed into meaningful information for better decision-making.
Intelligent computing technologies integrate machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, data analysis, data security, data mining, intelligent image and signal processing, and other technologies. It plays a significant role in smart cities, i.e., discovering information from raw data, especially massive and complex data. To provide more appropriate solutions for smart cities, we need to develop novel research methods. Therefore, understanding how to use intelligent computing technologies to operate and manage smart cities from various aspects has attracted extensive attention from both academics and industries.
This Special Issue focuses on research related to intelligent computing technologies for IoT in future smart cities and smart communities.
