Hindawi today announced the signing of a publishing partnership agreement with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Hindawi will support AAAS by providing post-acceptance publishing services for AAAS’s new Science Partner Journal publishing program. AAAS anticipates its first partner journal will launch in early 2018.
The Science Partner Journals will use Hindawi’s systems, processes, and staff for the management of accepted manuscripts during the production and proofing phase. A new journal platform will also be created to host the published articles. All articles published in the journal will be fully Open Access, using a Creative Commons attribution license (CC-BY 4.0).
Richard Bennett, Commercial Director at Hindawi, said “This is an extremely exciting project that will see the launch of new important Open Access journals by AAAS and other prestigious academic and scientific organizations. We are proud to be partnering with AAAS and are excited to use Hindawi’s OA systems and expertise to support the creation of this program.”
“This agreement also marks the first journal launch for our recently developed Publishing Partnerships program. We are delighted that AAAS chose our services for their program.”
Will Schweitzer, Director, Product and Custom Publishing at AAAS, says: “We are very excited to work with the entire team at Hindawi. Hindawi’s Publishing Partnerships program provides an excellent solution for us to provide flexible, scalable, cost-effective, and quality production and online distribution services to our publishing partners.”
Hindawi’s Publishing Partnerships program provides expertise and the use of propriety systems to publishers or societies looking to develop their own Open Access offerings. Our in-house systems were designed from scratch with an OA-first philosophy. Partners benefit from the use of these systems whilst keeping their own identity through the option for bespoke design. The program has already delivered the successful conversion of nine Wiley subscription journals into fully Open Access as part of the Wiley-Hindawi partnership, but the venture with AAAS will see the first new journal launch of the program. Publishers interested in finding out more about the Publishing Partnerships program can visit this newly launched section of our microsite.
Hindawi was one of the first publishers to convert its entire journal portfolio to pure Open Access and has spent the last ten years developing its experience in this area. Founded in 1997, Hindawi now publishes over 280 peer-reviewed open access journals under its own brand plus nine titles under the Wiley Hindawi co-brand. Hindawi’s Publishing Partnership program provides systems and expertise to publishers to help them manage their own Open Access journals.
