What made 2019 a truly inspiring and rewarding year for all of us at Hindawi, was the support of our community – from the researchers across the world who chose to work with us to our partners and peers.
Without your support, our vision as a company and as a team can never be realized.
In 2019, a selection of our journals was accepted into SCIE providing extra recognition for our authors, editors, and reviewers; we celebrated the achievements and contributions of women scientists across the globe putting forward a message of openness and inclusiveness in research; we shifted our editorial model and appointed Chief Editors aiming to improve the way our journals support their communities; we expanded our partnership with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) with the inclusion of new titles into the Science Partner Journal program; we continued to build on our successful partnership with Wiley and, in this way, play our part in the global transition to a more open scholarly world; we established a stronger relationship with the Coko community by being Coko’s first sponsor and continuing our collaborative work on open source scholarly infrastructure; we created a brand new platform dedicated to our Editors; we partnered with service providers such us Publons, Dimensions, Datasalon and SciencePod to bring benefits to our authors; and worked on putting the spotlight back to where it should always be – on the amazing researchers who choose to work with us.
The journey towards shifting the culture in scholarly communications to one that is more open and more inclusive is a journey on which we all have to embark together, as a team. Moving beyond current publishing and technology silos and investing more in our relationships with authors, editors, and reviewers set us in the right direction to offer greater value back into the research community.
How can publishers and researchers work together to make an impactful change? This question lies at the core of every decision that we make. In 2020, we will continue to place you, the researcher in the lab, at the heart of everything we do and explore the many ways we, together, can maximize the impact of research for future generations.
A big thank you for your support as we all continue on our journey to drive greater openness in research. We have some very exciting plans in the pipeline for 2020 and can’t wait to share them with you.
