Neurovascular Disorders: Novel Perspectives on Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, and Treatment

Description

Neurovascular disorders include subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, intracranial and extracranial atheroocclusive disease, acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and Moyamoya disease. Recently, there has been a greater understanding of both the genetic links and the basic mechanisms behind the pathophysiology of neurovascular diseases. Additionally, there have been significant advances in diagnosis, medical treatment, and microsurgical/endovascular therapies.

We invite clinicians and scientists to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the basic mechanisms underlying neurovascular disorders and to develop efficient diagnostic tools and safe and effective treatment strategies. We welcome animal/in vitro studies providing insight into the complex mechanisms of neurovascular diseases as well as clinical studies assessing outcomes of current neurovascular medical or surgical therapies.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Genetics of neurovascular disorders
  • Basic mechanisms underlying neurovascular disorders including cellular or animal models
  • Biomarkers predictive of outcomes in neurovascular disease
  • Epidemiology of neurovascular disorders
  • Advances in vascular imaging studies and diagnostic tools
  • Emerging medical therapies for neurovascular diseases such as anti-inflammatory agents for intracranial aneurysms
  • New surgical or endovascular techniques for treatment of neurovascular disorders
  • Outcomes of medical, microsurgical, and endovascular treatment strategies
