The Cooccurrence of Obesity, Osteoporosis, and Sarcopenia in the Ovariectomized Rat: A Study for Modeling Osteosarcopenic Obesity in Rodents

The effects of ovariectomy (ovx) and 17β-estradiol (ovx + E2) on food intake, body, and organ weight in rats with initial ages of five and ten months. Despite pair-feeding the animals, ovariectomy significantly increased body weight and caused atrophy of uterine tissue without any effects on heart or liver weights.
