Combinational Effects of Prebiotics and Soybean against Azoxymethane-Induced Colon Cancer In Vivo

Figure 1

Experimental design of feeding control and treatment diets in F344 male rats. Scale is not proportional. (1) Control diet is based on AIN-93G/M (American Institute of Nutrition—93Growth/Maintenance) [22, 23]. (2) Treatment diets: 5%, 10% Prebiotics and Soybean meal fed singly and in combinations. (a) Rats: ; (Replicates = 5), (b) °C; Relative humidity = 50%, (c) day and night = 12 hr. each, (d) Azoxymethane (AOM/colon specific carcinogen) dose = 16 mg/kg of body weight. The protocol involving animals was approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Alabama A&M University.
