Nano and Bio Photonics

Description

Nano and bio photonics is a multidisciplinary scientifically rising field connecting together chemists, material engineers, physicists, optical engineers, and biologists. The field has high academic as well as industrial significance involving development of various devices usable for data sensing and manipulation, for example, for optics communication, as well as monitoring techniques, that may be applicable for detection of cancer and other common diseases. The recent advances in the photonic fabrication as well as the detection capabilities link the two topics together by implementing nanophotnic devices and techniques for monitoring and controlling biorelated interactions.

In this special issue we aim to elucidate and foster state-of-the-art research in the area of nano- and biophotonics. We invite researchers from the academy as well as from the industry to submit their original research articles as well as review articles. Special focus is made to usage of nanoparticles for photonic devices as well as for biophotonic monitoring and for medical diagnostics and treatment. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Matter-photons interation
  • Nanoparticle manipulation and shifting in photonic systems
  • Nanophotonics-based systems and devices
  • Nanophotonics applications
  • Fabrication, characterization, and modeling for nanophotonics
  • High-resolution microscopy and super resolved imaging
  • Metamaterials
  • Plasmonics
  • Fluorescence characteristics in monitoring of biological samples
  • Biochips and microfluidics in photonic enviroment
  • Usage of nanoparticles in bioimaging
  • DNA movement tracking by photonic means
  • Multifunctional nanomaterials for advanced applications

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jamop/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
