Subject demographics, presence, and severity of airway obstruction. Airway obstruction is defined as FEV1/FVC < 0.7 and subclassified into stage 1 (FEV1 > 80%), stage 2 (FEV1 50–80%), stage 3 (FEV1 30–50%), and stage 4 (FEV1 < 30 percent or <50% with type 2 respiratory failure).
