There was a significant decrease in vessel number (7.4 versus 9.56, ) in aged C57 mice compared to young animals. There was no significant difference due to age (young 5.5, old 6.4) in vessel number in the SW animals. SW animals had a significantly reduced number of vessels compared to C57 at all ages ().
