Extrahepatic 25-Hydroxylation of Vitamin D3 in an Engineered Osteoblast Precursor Cell Line Exploring the Influence on Cellular Proliferation and Matrix Maturation during Bone Development

Endogenous production of 1,25OH2D3 by OPC1 in response to incubation with vitamin D3. A 1,25OH2D3/VDR ELISA was performed to analyze the metabolism of precursor vitamin D3 to the hormonally active form. The dose of vitamin D3 was controlled and administered at logarithmic concentration levels. A log-base-10 model was applied to the resulting response data.
