Activation of brain areas during language processing as measured with an fMRI scan (Philips 3T, Neuroimaging Center Groningen). Such language-related regions in the inferior frontal gyrus (Broca’s area), temporoparietal cortex (Wernicke’s area), and anterior cingulate are also seen to be active during auditory-verbal hallucinations.
