In Vitro Characterization of Valproic Acid, ATRA, and Cytarabine Used for Disease-Stabilization in Human Acute Myeloid Leukemia:
Antiproliferative Effects of Drugs on Endothelial and Osteoblastic Cells and Altered Release of Angioregulatory Mediators by Endothelial Cells
Figure 1
Effects of VPA, ATRA, and Ara-C on stromal cell proliferation. (a) HUVECs and (b) Cal72 cells were incubated with various concentrations of VPA, ATRA, or Ara-C for 3 days and proliferation was measured as incorporation of 3H-thymidine the last 24 hours of incubation. (c) The figure shows the effect of Ara-C (0.1 M), VPA (0.3 and 0.6 mM), and ATRA (1 M) treatment on HUVEC proliferation alone or in drug combinations compared to drug-free control cultures. Results are expressed as mean percentage ± SEM from three independent experiments (six replicates per condition) relative to corresponding untreated control cultures.
