Exposure of Prostate to Lipopolysaccharide and Hypoxia Potentiates Neoplastic Behavior and Risk for Prostate Carcinogenesis In Vivo

Adult male mice were experimentally induced to hypoxic stress by daily treatment with hydrogen peroxide and the control group received only normal saline. Blood samples were collected from each group after 6 days and were assayed for serum PSA by ELISA method. Data showed that exposure of the prostate to hypoxic condition resulted in 3.5-fold increase in serum PSA level compared to the control, demonstrating a statistical significance ().
