Graphical representation of ER perturbation upon H37Rv infection of THP-1 cell. Decrease in AMRP and EST1 proteins is suggestive of cholesterol accumulation. This increase in cholesterol assists in Mtb persistence. Along with cholesterol accumulation, H37Rv also induces the expression level of PIP2 which in turn is a direct inhibitor of caspase 8 leading to the inhibition of cellular apoptosis.
