Identification of Residues Important for the Activity of Haloferax volcanii AglD, a Component of the Archaeal N-Glycosylation Pathway

Figure 5

Homology modeling of Hfx. volcanii AglD residues based on the available three-dimensional structure of B. subtilis SpsA. Structural modeling was performed by using the SWISS-MODEL program (http://swissmodel.expasy.org/) and visualized using PyMol (http://www.pymol.org/). B. subtilis SpsA Thr97, Asp98, Asp99, and Asp191 are shown in blue, while Hfx. volcanii AglD Asp110, Thr111, Asp112, Asp173, Asp195, and Asp 201 are shown in brown. The ribbon diagram in the background corresponds to the three-dimensional structure of SpsA [20]. The RMS value, reflecting the quality of the homology modeling, is 0.61 angstroms.
