The gene Msed_0891 encodes for a functional exopolyphosphatase. (a) In vitro enzymatic PPX activity assay of the protein encoded by Msed_0891. PPX_Msed was incubated with PolyP₇₀₀ as described in Materials and Methods at 65°C for the times indicated. The remaining PolyP in the samples was visualized by UREA-PAGE. (b) Substrate preference of PPX_Msed. The enzyme was incubated with the PolyP of different chain lengths indicated, as described in Materials and Methods.
