Hepatoprotective Effect of Citrus limon Fruit Extract against Carbofuran Induced Toxicity in Wistar Rats

Figure 7

Effect of CF on the level of serum total cholesterol and amelioration by C. limon fruit extract. Control: control group treated with 0.5 mL groundnut oil; 20% CF: three subacute oral doses (1.6 mg Kg−1 bwt equivalent to 20% LD50) of CF. C. limon: the rats treated with 0.5 mL C. limon fruit extract three times at the intervals of 24 h. C. limon + 20% CF refer to the experimental animals group which received 0.5 mL C. limon fruit extract 30 min prior to the treatment of rats with CF (1.6 mg Kg−1 bwt). All the treatments were given as three-time oral doses at the interval of 24 h and experiments were carried out up to three days. The animals were sacrificed after 24 h from the last dose of treatment. Level of total cholesterol was determined as described in Materials and Methods. The unit of level of total cholesterol is mg dL−1. The values were expressed as Mean ± SD; , where is number of determinations. The sign () indicates values significantly different from control at .
