Ghrelin is an Osteoblast Mitogen and Increases Osteoclastic Bone Resorption In Vitro

Osteoclast differentiation in mouse bone marrow cultures is not affected by ghrelin. Bone marrow cells were cultured for 7 days with experimental substances or vehicle. Cells were fixed and stained and the number of TRAP positive cells with three nuclei or more was determined in each well. MNC: multinucleated cells, OPG: osteoprotegerin (positive control).
