Ghrelin is an Osteoblast Mitogen and Increases Osteoclastic Bone Resorption In Vitro

Ghrelin is weakly mitogenic to primary rat osteoblasts. Osteoblasts cultured from rat calvariae were growth-arrested in 0.1% BSA for 24 hours. Fresh media and experimental compounds were then added for a further 24 hours.
