Ghrelin is weakly mitogenic to primary rat osteoblasts. Osteoblasts cultured from rat calvariae were growth-arrested in 0.1% BSA for 24 hours. Fresh media and experimental compounds were then added for a further 24 hours. (a) Thymidine incorporation: cells were pulsed with 3H-thymidine for the last 6 hours of incubation (ANOVA ).
