Intracoronary Imaging and Histopathology of Late Phase In-Stent Restenosis after Coronary Stent Implantation

Coronary angiograms during index percutaneous coronary intervention. Balloon angioplasty was performed for in-stent restenosis in the mid-left anterior descending coronary artery. After balloon dilatation, a filling defect was seen just distal to the stent with resultant improvement of in-stent stenosis. After aspiration, the defect was not angiographically visible. A  mm Taxus Liberte stent was deployed to cover the in-stent restenotic lesion, and the result was good. (From J Invasive Cardiol 23: E86–E91, 2011 with permission).
