A Model Simulation for Decreased Left Ventricular Stroke Volume in Obstructive Sleep-Disordered Breathing

Same simulations as in Figure 1 of the inspiratory fall in left ventricular stroke volume (LVSV) in percent reduction from baseline and compared to data from the literature (Table 1). LVSV decline from patients with obstructive sleep apnea [6, 7, 13, 15] measured during spontaneous breathing, and from patients with congestive heart failure [3, 8] and status after cardiac surgery [4] challenged with a Mueller maneuver were substantially below the values from healthy subjects and baseline simulation at comparable Pth (see text).
