Effect of serotonergic receptor antagonism on KiSS-1 gene overexpression neuroprotection against amyloid-β toxicity. PKiSS cells were pretreated with (a) serotonergic antagonist cyproheptadine hydrochloride (CYPR: 10 nM) or (b) serotonergic antagonist methysergide maleate (MET: 1 μM) for 2 h prior to exposure to Aβ 1–40 (10 μM) and determination of viability by MTT reduction. Results are mean ± s.e.m. * versus control (media alone); versus Aβ alone; one-way ANOVA.
