A New Monitor to Measure Dermal Blood Flow in Critically Ill Patients: A Preliminary Study

Patient with pneumonia and severe sepsis. Between two stable states the dose of noradrenaline was reduced and the patient received a fluid bolus. During this time the pattern of the DBF curve, but not the FPW, is similar to that of the MAP. The change in the trend of the DBF curve occurs several minutes earlier than in the MAP curve. DBF: dermal blood flow; MAP: mean arterial pressure.
