Downregulation of Caspase-2 Expression in Somitic Cells following Coculture with Chicken Notochord

Photomicrographs of a chick embryo at stage 8 (a), an isolated notochord (b), and the somites (c) from the chick embryo. Encapsulated notochord in alginate bead was cultured for 2 (d), 4 (e), and 6 days (f). The survival rate of the notochordal cells was quantified by MTT assay during different days in culture and presented as fold increase of control after normalizing with the same cells on day 0 (Control group upon isolation) (*𝑃<0.05 ) (bar = 50 𝜇m).
