OCT advantages in the evaluation of macular edema.

(i) OCT is more reliable than fundus biomicroscopy in the evaluation of the macular edema.ā€‰
(ii) OCT is more reliable than fluorescein angiography in diagnosing the presence of fluid in the retinal and subretinal space, as on fluorescein angiography the leakage in the inner retina can mask the fluid in the outer retina.ā€‰
