Anti-CAM nanocarriers: intracellular delivery in endothelial cells. Monomolecular antibodies bound to PECAM-1 or ICAM-1 do not undergo internalization, thereby providing mechanism for anchoring conjugated cargoes in the vascular lumen. In contrast, multivalent anti-CAM/nanocarriers and conjugates binding to and clustering cell surface CAMs activate internalization via a specific endocytic pathway [43].
