 *WT (GS162), ΔgcvAΔgcvB (GS1132), and WT transformed with were grown overnight at 30°C (AP was added for the plasmid-carrying strain) and tested for CM sensitivity on Mueller-Hinton plates (see Materials and Methods). In addition, 50 μL of each overnight culture was used to inoculate 5 mL of LB with or without 3 μg mL−1 CM, the cultures grown at 30°C and generation times (GT) measured. Average inhibition zones and standard deviations from eight Mueller-Hinton plates and average generation times and standard deviations of 3 independent growth experiments are reported.
