Surgical, Ultrasound Guided Drainage, and Medical Management of Tuboovarian Abscesses

<table>Proposed algorithm for the management of TOA. Patient presents with a TOA. If unstable, proceed with surgical management. If stable, look at TOA size. If size is &lt;8 cm, place patient on triple IV antibiotics for 48 hours. If no clinical response, proceed with US guided drainage or surgery. If there is a clinical response, discharge patient home with 14-day course of metronidazole and doxycycline. If TOA measures &gt;8 cm, proceed with US guided drainage or surgery +/− concomitant IV antibiotics.</table>
