Emerging Networking Technologies for Smart City Environment, Mobility and Manufacturing

This issue is now closed for submissions.

Description

In recent years, significant technological advancements have been made in information technology and telecommunications. This has enabled smart cities to become more effective with the emergence of Internet of Things (IoT), Intent of Medical Things (IoMT), and digital twin technology to enhance data collection.

Vast amounts of data are gathered from people, sensors, smart communities, and the environment. In order to efficiently utilize this data, smart cities must develop data-driven solutions and big data analytics to manage smart city healthcare services, traffic control, smart mobility under heterogeneous traffic conditions, public safety, environmental protection, and supply chains. Rapid technological advances in new technologies, such as IoT, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning, are expanding the capability, utility, and accessibility of smart cities.

This Special Issue aims to bring together different applications of big data approaches, new advances in analytical approaches, integration of artificial intelligence, IoT, and other advanced remote sensing tools that address challenges in smart cities, including environmental and global development challenges, such as traffic control. Also of interest are manuscripts focusing on advances in remote sensing technology and the application of remotely sensed observations to assess environmental changes. We welcome both original research and review articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Smart city construction, transportation, property, urban planning and regulations
  • IoT, IoMt and digital twin implementation strategies for smart city development, as well as intelligent decision making in AI-enabled IoT
  • Smart city enabled big data applications for better utilization of energy resources.
  • Big analytics for smart water, smart energy, and smart transport
  • Energy-efficient, low carbon, green buildings.
  • Green management using IoT monitoring, and modelling of natural hazards.
  • Smart, clean, and healthy transportation infrastructure management.
  • Big data analytics for intelligent transportation
  • AI powered smart mobility solutions
  • Smart traffic system operations
  • Traffic theory, modelling and simulation for smart mobility.
  • Data-driven analytics for traffic management and control in smart cities
  • Connected vehicle (CV) technologies
  • Emission monitoring, climate change and sustainability
  • Machine learning and deep learning applications and algorithms in remote sensing data processing
