Lateral root number and lateral root density were determined after 12 days of culture. Arabidopsis seedlings were grown on media containing 1 μM or 1 mM or on the same media supplemented with 100–500 μM ASC. Seedlings of vtc1 mutant were grown on medium containing either 1 μM or 1 mM .
