Supplementary Material

The video shows the coastal environment during low tide in the vicinity of Seymour Island (64°14S, 56°37W), located at the NW extreme of the Weddell Sea (Antarctica). Images of various natural bubbling of methane are also shown. The water depth was about 1.5 m and the water temperature was −1.6°C. The images were obtained during the Antarctic summer campaign of the year 2012. The density of the methane leaks was estimated at approximately 1 methane vent every 20 square meters.
