G-Quadruplex Nucleic Acids

Description

G-quadruplexes are a family of four-stranded structures stabilized by guanine quartets, in which four planar guanines establish a cyclic array of Hydrogen bonds. They are of special interest due to increasing evidence for their formation in vivo and their possible implication in biology, especially at telomeres and as contributors to gene regulation. Moreover, G-quadruplexes are also formed as a result of self-assembling processes of guanosine derivatives yielding several interesting motifs such as G-ribbons and G-wires which have interesting electrical conductivity properties that are being explored as molecular wires.

We invite authors to submit original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the development of this fast growing field. We are interested on manuscripts describing new guanosine derivatives and G-rich oligonucleotides with novel properties as well as characterization of self-assembling properties of guanosine derivatives and G-quadruplex topologies. Studies describing the interactions of G-quadruplexes with proteins or drugs and the study of surfaces functionalized with G-quadruplexes are also welcomed. The topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Self-assembling properties of guanosine derivatives
  • Design and synthesis of novel guanosine-based materials
  • Theoretical modeling of G-quadruplexes
  • Synthesis and properties of G-rich DNA and RNA oligonucleotides
  • Structural properties of G-quadruplexes
  • Biological recognition of G-quadruplexes
  • Biological functions of G-quadruplexes
  • Drugs that bind G-quadruplexes
  • G-quadruplexes in protein-aptamer interactions
  • G-quadruplexes as drugs and diagnostics
  • Potential applications of G-quadruplexes (electronic, optical properties, nanotechnology, sensors, etc.)

We solicit original unpublished research papers only. Papers previously published in conference/workshop proceedings can be considered, but should be substantially extended.

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jna/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
