Soft Computing for Optimization in Complex Systems

Call for Papers

Soft computing encompasses a number of computational techniques, mainly fuzzy logic, evolutionary computation, machine learning, artificial neural networks, metaheuristic, swarm intelligence, and bioinspired computation, for addressing complex real-world problems. A complex system is composed of a large number of interacting components, whose interaction and interconnectedness are nontrivial. Recent advances in soft computing have shown highly promising results in a wide range of topics, from basic researches to a huge number of complex real-world problems. This special issue aims at bringing together academia experts to report their recent developments on soft computing techniques for solving real-world optimization problems in complex systems.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Evolutionary computation or metaheuristics for real-world complex optimization tasks
  • Metaheuristics or evolutionary computation for many and multiobjective optimization
  • Optimization through swarm intelligence or bioinspired approaches
  • Large-scale optimization in complex systems and networks
  • Robust optimization over time found in complex networks and systems
  • Soft computing for uncertain/dynamic optimization problems
  • Soft computing for combinatorial optimization problems
  • Fuzzy computing, granular computing, or probabilistic computing for optimization
  • Neurocomputing for optimization tasks found in complex systems
