TIMP-2 expression and NF-$\kappa$B activity. The effects of TIMP-2 on the NF-$\kappa$B pathway include the decreased basal level of I$\kappa$B$\alpha$, increased phosphorylation of I$\kappa$B$\alpha$ and NF-$\kappa$B, increased transcriptional NF-$\kappa$B activity, and elevated IL-8 levels in the TIMP-2-overexpressed cells.
