Lymphocytes from control and S. neurona-infected horses were stained with CFSE and then cultured with no stimulation, PMA/I, or live merozoites for 72 hr at 37°C, 5% CO2. Samples were then stained for CD4 (a) or CD8 (b) and the number of divisions per sample was determined. The average number of cells per division ± SEM was determined for control and infected horses.
