A Novel Mechanism for Cross-Adaptation between Heat and Altitude Acclimation: The Role of Heat Shock Protein 90

<table>Exercise and heat exposure increases intracellular HSP90. HSP90 precipitates and phosphorylates HIF1<i>α</i>. HIF1<i>α</i> is stabilized by HSP90 independent of oxygen levels. HIF1<i>α</i> is translocated across nucleus membrane dimerizing with HIF1<i>β</i>. Dimerization of HIF1<i>α</i>/<i>β</i> increases HIF1 transcription factor which binds to HRE of DNA. This increases VEGF and EPO production.
