The proliferating spindle-to-oval-shaped cells showed immunostaining for a specific antibody to KIT ((a) and (b)) with an intensity similar to that found in interstitial cells outside the mass (c). The proliferating cells also stained for α-smooth muscle actin (d) and vimentin (e). Note the staining with a specific antibody to connexin 43 (Cx43) (f) and (g).
