Ureteral Dilatation with No Apparent Cause on Intravenous Urography: Normal or Abnormal? A Pilot Study

1 case showed microscopic field full of pus cells; 7 cases showed 4–10 pus cells/HPF. Urinary tract infection was found in 8 patients with a dilated ureter, out of which 3 showed growth of E. coli on urine culture, while in 2 cases Mycobacterium tuberculosis was isolated on culture (1 patient with genitourinary tuberculosis had no pus cells in urine). |
